Other ways to connect

CONNECTING TO YOUR OFFICE DESKTOP FROM HOME COMPUTER

Step 1

Make sure you have working internet at home

( wifi or ethernet).

Step 2

If you have not done so, download and install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN.

Step 3

RUN the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client

Step 4

Enter connect.usc.edu and press the Connect button.

Step 5

Enter your USC user credentials (Workday or Blackboard credentials)
Type in the word push in the Multifactor Authentication, which will send a Duo request to your smartphone.
Click the OK button.

Step 6

You will get an alert on Windows 10 indicating that you are connected.

On your windows taskbar, a lock over the Cisco icon means you established a link via VPN.

On Mac OS, you will see the Cisco AnyConnect logo with a lock if the connection was successful.
Are you still having difficulty connecting to VPN? Make sure to enter the word “push” in the Second Password: text box and check your Duo Mobile app on your smartphone. If you entered the correct user ID and password, and still you are still unable to connect, please contact USC ITServices (213-740-5555) and request to check and enable your account for VPN access.

Step 7

On Windows 10 OS

To open the Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDP) application, press the (  Window key + R) together. In the Open: text field, enter mstsc and press the enter key or click on the OK button.

Alternatively, you can press the Window key, and type, Remote Desktop, and press Enter.

on MAC OS

If you have not already done so, be sure to download and install the Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 from your AppStore first.

To open the Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDP) application,
Click on the Spotlight search icon at the top press the
(⌘ Command key + spacebar) together.

In the Spotlight Search box type in Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 to find the application.
Run the application.

Step 8

On Windows 10 OS

on MAC OS

Enter work computer IP or Hostname and click on the Connect button.

Step 9

Enter the credentials you use to log into your work computer.

 **If you are on the Med Domain you must type med\yourusername in the username box.

**If you are on the PrevMed Domain you must type prevmed\yourusername in the username box.

 

Step10

Hooray!

You should now be connected now.
